A throuple specifically refers to a romantic relationship involving three individuals.
Throuples, also known as three-person relationships, are an increasingly recognized and accepted form of romantic and sexual connection.
Three’s a Crowd?
Like a super cool friendship group that’s more than just friends! It’s different from a typical couple because there are three people instead of two, making things more exciting and complicated at the same time.
3 Types of Throuples:
Just like every friend group is unique, throuples come in different forms too:
- Open Throuple: In an open throuple, the three individuals may engage in romantic or sexual relationships with people outside of the throuple, with the consent and agreement of all parties involved.
- Closed Throuple: This type of relationship is exclusive to the three individuals involved, meaning they do not engage in romantic or sexual relationships outside of the throuple.
- Polyfidelitous1 Throuple: This type of throuple is similar to a closed throuple, but with an emphasis on fidelity. The individuals in the throuple are committed exclusively to each other and do not engage in relationships outside of the throuple.
The More You Know:
Throuples are becoming more common, showing that love and happiness can come in many forms. While some people might not understand them yet, throuples are a valid and awesome way for people who love each other to be together!
- “Polyfidelitous” refers to a type of committed non-monogamous relationship in which all individuals involved agree to be exclusively committed to each other. It is a term commonly used within polyamorous or polyfidelitous communities to describe relationships where multiple partners are involved but there is an emphasis on fidelity and exclusivity within the group.
